I am not sure why I felt like I should share this experience but since this happened I felt like I needed to share it.
The other day I was out shopping at Kohls and like usual Ethan's face had had a flare up and was red. A rough looking women came up to me and asked if he had eczema and of course I said yes. Well she proceeded to tell me how her grand daughter had very severe allergies and also suffered from the same things Ethan does. It was actually quite an interesting conversation UNTIL I said that I have hope that one day Ethan's allergies will be better and that he won't have to deal with this his whole life.

Well that threw her off the wall. She told me that her daughter has the same hope for her grand daughter and that hope is the reason that this world is in the despair that it is. Hope is what is killing this world. She said that I should forget hope and accept reality. The reality that Ethan will suffer the rest of his life. Literally about ten minutes after the rampage I was thrilled that my phone rang and I could walk away.
I felt so down for most of the day. I felt so sad and mad that she felt like she could take the one thing I felt that I had left for Ethan's allergies. HOPE. It wasn't until later that I realized that I am so grateful for hope. I am so grateful that everyday I can wake up and hope that that day will be even better than the day before. I am grateful that we have hope to get us through those rough and tough days. I am the most grateful that I don't have to have hope that Ethan will one day be better, because I know that if Ethan is not better in this life, he will be in the next. I have been thinking about that woman since then and wished that I could have shared with her my knowledge that her granddaughter will one day have the opportunity to be healed too. Maybe by sharing this story I can help someone else to know that it will be okay. Here are some cute pictures of Ethan.

I love this post. Thanks for sharing. Our Mathew went through some crazy health stuff when he was younger and we still deal with some issues now and then. Through it all hope and the knowledge that this life is just a stepping stone, helped us get through the tough times as well. Good luck and keep your chin up! ;)
Hope is the only thing that got me through 4 VERY hard years with Andrew.. Hope is one thing that no one can take from you. Love Ya..
People at the store are so weird! Seriously, who just walks up to you and tells you HOPE has ruined the world? Someone who needs to be admitted!
Cory and I will both attest that there are so many "medical miracles" that can't be explained by science.
Love you and your cute family!
I love keeping up with your beautiful family. What a poor lady who has lost all hope! So sad.
Austin, you rock. Thanks for sharing. I can't believe how big Ethan is! He has teeth??? So cute! Thanks for being such a big example! I hope you all have a GREAT summer!
I agree, Thank you for sharing that! It's so sad that people can even feel that way! :( Cute pictures of Ethan...I love his little teeth!
Also, I bet you can just leave a comment on Melissa's blog and she will get back to you about her prices. She's prob pretty affordable and it looks like she has some really cool locations in Utah for pictures. I'm gonna have her do our family pictures in October when we're out there! :)
I had no idea you live so close.
What a great attitude you have! No one can take your hope, don't let people like that get to you. It's not worth your time, you obviously have a great understanding of life and the plan of happiness!
Allison emailed me that you may be interested in doing a shoot for your adorable son. So fun! I'd be happy to give you a great deal since you "Radfords" are like family.
Email or call me and we'll set something up if you want.
