Ethans First Birthday Day!

We decided since we were having Ethan's birthday party after his birthday that we would take him to the zoo for the first time on his birthday! We started that morning off by getting up and making Ethan some waffles! I found this amazing waffle mix at Trader Joe's in Chicago that is dairy free. After waffles we let Ethan open one of his presents which was a fun little outfit for the day. The rest of his gifts we saved for his party. Then we got all ready and headed to the zoo.

We noticed that Ethan was kinda fussy and on the way to the zoo his eyes got all red and his nose started running. Now seeing as Ethan has allergies I didn't think too much of it! So at the zoo we stayed! We met Adrianne, Hannah, Derek, Hailey, Amelia, Amanda, Isaac, and our good friends Cathy, Katie and her kids Sadie, Cierra and Andrew all there! After several hours of looking at animals, riding the train and going on the carousel we were pooped. We had so much fun though!

We were going to go get dinner but we could tell Ethan was needing to get home and boy was the rest of that night crazy! Ethan was up all night with a fever, coughing and a bad runny nose. The next day was his 12 month check up and I knew it wouldn't be fun. They checked him for a sore throat, ear infection and nothing seemed to be wrong. His doctor decided to test him for the flu and poor little Ethan has SWINE FLU!

We are not sure how he got it but I feel like a horrible Mom taking him to the zoo with Swine! They now have him on Tamiflu and seems to be doing a lot better! We are quarantined in our house until next week so I am sure you will see a lot more posts from me! I guess this is just one more memory to tell him about when he gets older! Here are some pictures from his birthday!
This is the pancake mix that we used for his breakfast!

Ethan eating his waffles!

He was so excited to open his gift!

Go Ethan!

He was more interested in the wrapping paper

The bird show was really cool!

Hazel, Richard, and Ethan. He already looked tired!

Amanda, Isaac, Adrianne and Derek. Cathy, Katie and the kids got there a little after and I didn't get a picture! Sorry guys!

I love this picture of Isaac!

There were so many penguins out. I have never seen warm climate penguins! It was pretty cool!

Amelia Jane, Richard and Ethan

I love that you can go above the giraffes. It's neat to be that close to them.

This is the closest we could get to a smile!

FREAKY!

Beware! His tail is lifted! :)

This thing was right up against the glass

It's not very often we have pictures of just me!

Ethan's had compared to the gorilla.

Amelia and E Baby

The little train ride was short but fun. Isaac sure seemed to enjoy it

The tired little man!

Hailey!
Oh and P.S.
Thanks Hailey so much for bringing us groceries tonight! Since we can't go anywhere I was out of food and I cant survive another day without milk, bread and cheese, plus other things like chips and drinks!!

OH no, poor Ethan!! That is no fun to be sick on your birthday and especially no fun to have the swine flu! I hope he's starting to feel better now. But I have to say the zoo looked like so much fun. He sure is a cutie :)
