Richard's Heart Attack

So I have been up all night thinking about today. To most this is just a normal day. You wake up, get ready, brush your teeth, go to work, take care of your kids, etc.. But it is not a normal day for me. September 15Th, 2010 Richard called me to say that he thought he was having a heart attack and after a long 5 days in the hospital, lots of test, lots of surgeries, and too many doctors to count or even remember, he was sent home with stints in his heart, and A LOT medicines that I would have never imagined my healthy husband needing to take.
Looking back today I remember feeling so hopeless and scared. I wondered how this would effect the rest of our lives. I wondered if the "rest of our lives" would be cut short or if my kids would even know who their Dad was. Now to everyone reading this may sound so silly, but those were honestly the thoughts that plagued my mind day in and day out.
Now today I am more full of hope than I have ever had in my life. I have not one, or two, but three amazingly handsome little boys ( one of whom was born AFTER Richards heart attack). I have the most amazing family and friends, who when we needed help the most was there for us. They called, they texted, they came to the hospital and sat next to me, they brought meals, they watched our kids and the prayed. They listened to me cry on days when I just felt like I couldn't take one more day. You all know who you are and I couldn't be more grateful for all of you and the support you have given us.
Most importantly I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have that God lives. That we are watched over and protected each and every day. There is a plan for us and if we live righteously we will have blessings beyond our wildest dreams.
I had my friend Dani make Richard this cake. I surprised him and took it to a lunch that Richard was having with some friends today!
I designed him this shirt online especially for him. The front says " I survived a heart attack" the sleeve says the date "9-15-10" and the back says "Smead".

Crazy scary! I would have thought the same thoughts, so don't feel silly. Glad everything turned out and that one more cute little guy has joined the Smead fam!
