Well this last weekend was one of the most trying times we've been through! After what Ethan went through when he was born I didn't think that it was possible for anything to go more wrong. Boy does that just tell you how naive I am. Obviously I am a new mom!
Sunday we went to Kyson's blessing, who is Richard nephew. Afterwards they had family and friends over for some lunch. I had run out of breast milk for Ethan and since he had had formula in the hospital I didn't think twice about giving him some there. Within minutes of giving Ethan the formula I noticed he was choking but it was nothing abnormal for Ethan who CHUGS bottles down. He didn't stop choking though and I realized he was actually throwing up. To make a long story short we rushed Ethan to the ER which was a couple minutes away and they diagnosed him with having a severe allergic reaction. He had hives covering his whole body and his lips were super swollen! It was so sad!
Luckily there were great nurses and doctors on duty and after two shots of epinephrine, an iv with fluids, two rounds of benadryl, an oxygen mask with albuterol and 5 hours later, Ethan was sent home! We now have to carry around a Epi Pen in case it happens again! Later this month he is scheduled to have his allergies tested. After about 4 hours and Ethan looking A LOT better the ER doctor had me take some pictures to show Ethans pediatrician and also the allergist. Thank goodness he had me take pictures at the end because these are bareable to look at! So here are some of the after effects of the formula!

The day started off nice! Gloria, Richards Mom, Richard, Ethan and Rob, Richards Dad

Ethan in the ER

This one I took on my phone and sent it to my email! I took this one right when we got to the hospital!

His hives on his legs finally started getting better after the second helping of epinephrine!

Richard is such a great dad! He sat next to Ethan holding his hand the whole time.

They wouldn't let us leave until his hives were all gone!
